Install and authenticate

Install a signed Cortex CLI release and sign in securely.

Download the macOS DMG, Windows setup executable or Debian package from the authenticated Console → Downloads page. Verify the publisher or package signature before installation.

cortex --version
cortex auth login
cortex auth status

Sign-in opens the browser by default. Use --no-browser only when the displayed device flow is appropriate for the host. Sign-in credentials are stored through the operating system’s protected credential storage when available.

Use cortex auth logout to remove the local credential. Do not install Cortex from public language package registries or copy a credential into a container image.
